I often receive questions from bloggers, patrons, and other designers on what inspires me and how the shoes are designed. The questions I receive are good ones and often makes me think about the process of making good art through my shoes. Here, a guest blogger interviewed me to get a little insight to the work I do behind closed doors.

Max + Ola Baby Boots and Shoes are handmade, but did you know it’s also designed by the owner of the company? Ewa Tereszkiewicz is a mother of two, Max and Ola, who know baby feet and the needs of babies who are just learning to walk. She’s also extremely interested in the design of the shoes, not only the durability and quality, but she wants them to be extremely stylish!

The design process is just as you imagine, Ewa sits in her in home office at the drawing board.  Letting all the creative bubble percolate in her head as she dreams up small nuggets of goodness fall onto her blank slate. She draws out the shoes, contemplating color, texture, design, patterns to come up with the most beautiful combination. Voila! The perfect shoe.

Because this is her company and she is inspired by her legacy as shoe makers, her children, and her fellow mothers, she makes sure that her artistry is something she can be proud of. She loves the idea of wrapping little feet up with her art.

Ewa appreciates a mother with a careful eye for her baby. En Vogue moms every where are raving about how absolutely adorable Max + Ola baby shoes and boots are. So, we interviewed her to get into the head of the designer and get to the bottom of her shoe inspirations!

 YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE COLOR IS…

Black and pink or any polka dots! I just love polka dots. As you can see, I incorporate them as much as I can in the shoes I design. It can be extremely sophisticated like on Kate Spade shoes, or cute and playful as well.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FOR YOUR DESIGNS?

My daughter is my best inspiration she has really good taste, and it makes it easier to know what 4 years old really like when I have to choose color for my new collection. Little girls tell you exactly what they want, and I create a happy medium between what she comes up and what moms would want to see in the collection.

Also, from my traveling. Traveling exposes you to so many colors, textures, and patterns from different cultures. It’s hard not to be influenced by those things.

VICE YOU’LL NEVER GIVE UP?

Daydreaming, and I like to sleep a lot. But that makes for creativity and brain power right?

IF YOU DIDN'T DESIGN SHOES, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Any job with kids because I really love to be around kids, maybe an elementary teacher.

HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE?

My husband bought me this really cool coffee maker and I drink black coffee first thing in the morning.

THE ONE THING THAT’S ALWAYS IN YOUR FRIDGE?

Almond milk,  extra large, organic eggs, essentially to make omelets, pancakes, cookies, and cakes. I really love to cook with my kids because they love to help me around the kitchen.

IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE PLACE TO SHOP, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

Paris. Need I say more?
